오늘 Joel H. Hildebrand란 이름의 화학자가 “모형”에 관해 쓴 1964년 논문을 읽고 있었다. 그런데 중간에 이런 구절이 나왔다.
“In 1907 I attended lectures in Berlin by the distinguished Geheimrat Professor Doktor Walther Nernst, the arbiter of the period in all quesions in physical chemistry.”
1907년에 강의를 들었다니? 1964년에 논문을 쓰면서 1907년 일을 회고하려면 나이가 몇 살인 거야? 그래서 검색을 해봤더니 브리태니커와 위키피디아에도 나오는 저명한 화학자였다. 정말 충격적이었던 건 위키피디아에 나온 첫 구절.
“Joel Henry Hildebrand (November 16, 1881 – April 30, 1983)[1] was ….”
